In our journey we realized that although India has a pool of “Chinese interpreters” who possess the knowledge of Chinese and experience in Chinese interpretation, their interpreting skills are lacking. INCCS Academy of Chinese Language has therefore designed a course designed for existing and aspiring Chinese interpreters to bridge the gap in interpretation knowledge and skill.
Chinese Interpreter Course Objectives
The Chinese interpreter training course aims at raising the bilingual interpretation skills for professional translators in various fields in India. The course imparts training to English-Chinese and Chinese-English interpreters with perceptiveness in both English and Chinese and interpretation skills.
Entry Requirements
The participant must possess atleast a Diploma in Chinese language and should be able to speak Chinese.
Chinese Interpreter Training Course Content
The programme adopts a systematic and practical approach. Besides providing an in-depth and comprehensive analysis of the characteristics of English and Chinese languages, interpretation principles and techniques, topical practices form an integral part of the programme.

The module gives participants a good foundation on the overview of language systems, especially on the uniqueness of the Chinese language and its applications, so as to further enhance the accuracy of interpretation work. |
| 02 | Comparative English and Chinese Linguistics | This module gives a systematic comparison between English and Chinese languages from both the macro and micro perspectives. A more thorough understanding would lead to a more accurate interpretation, with the style of the original text being preserved. |
| 03 | English-Chinese and Chinese-English Interpretation Theory and Practice | This module introduces the different schools of interpretation theories and their applications in interpretation practice. Exercises based on various work-related topics will be put into practice as part of this module. This pragmatic approach would improve the overall quality and consistency of interpretation. |
| 04 | Interpretation Skills for Different Genres | This module helps participants to overcome challenges of translating different genres of work. Different interpretation approaches will be introduced based on the analysis of the stylistic and linguistic features of the different genres. |
| 05 | English-Chinese and Chinese-English Interpretation Theory and Practice | This module comprises the various interpretation skills to optimize one's bilingual competence in meeting the challenges of interpretation and work-related interpretation needs. |
| 06 | Integrated Interpretation Skills | This module introduces the techniques and pitfalls in interpretation, and how the utilisation of online tools and resources can help in overcoming problems and improve the effectiveness and quality of translation. |
